About

Hi there! My name is Bela Mistry aka The Mistry Coeliac blogger!

I’m excited to share my journey with you. About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with coeliac disease, which requires me to follow a strict gluten-free diet. Growing up in a household where traditional Gujarati meals was the normal, my taste buds were accustomed to the flavours of Indian/Gujarati cuisine. As someone who loves Gujarati, Indian cuisine, I was determined to find a way to enjoy my favourite dishes without compromising my health. However, my love for food extended beyond the borders of my culture, as I also enjoyed indulging in Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Chinese, Greek, Thai and various other cuisines.

At first, it was challenging to adjust to this new way of eating, but I soon realised that I didn’t have to miss out on the delicious foods I had grown accustomed to. I started experimenting in the kitchen, substituting traditional ingredients with gluten-free alternatives. When I told about my diagnosis, my food world had been turned upside down. At first, it was challenging to adjust to this new way of eating, but I soon realised that I didn’t have to miss out on the delicious foods I had grown accustomed to. It was a trial and error process, but I was amazed at the incredible results I achieved.

Creating Gluten-Free Indian Recipes

Now, I am passionate about sharing my gluten-free recipes with others who may be facing similar dietary restrictions. Through my blog, I aim to provide a wide range of recipes that are not only delicious but also safe for those with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance.

From aromatic curries to fluffy rice dishes and mouth watering desserts, I have developed gluten-free versions of some favourite Indian classics. I use a variety of gluten-free flours, such as rice flour, chickpea flour, topicia flour, and almond flour to recreate the textures and flavours that make Indian cuisine so special.

Whether you are new to gluten-free cooking or have been following a gluten-free diet for years, I hope that my recipes will inspire you to try something new. You don’t have to miss out on the foods you love; with a little creativity and some simple substitutions, you can enjoy a gluten-free Indian feast right in your own home.

Stay tuned for my upcoming blog posts, where I will be sharing some of my favorite gluten-free Indian recipes. Get ready to tantalize your taste buds and discover a whole new world of delicious, gluten-free possibilities!
